The climate at “our mountain,” the Wurmberg, is refreshingly different and truly beneficial. So beneficial, in fact, that Braunlage has been awarded the designation of a health resort with a healing climate.

Temperatures of 30° Celsius or more have never been recorded on the Wurmberg, and even on the hottest summer days, it never feels humid. There’s always a fresh, pleasant breeze here. This is thanks to the elevation of 971 meters above sea level and the mountain’s topography, which consistently provides an extra touch of wind.

Combined with abundant sunshine and the added benefit of oxygen-reduced high-altitude air, this creates a true feel-good factor.

So, when the summer heat fills the streets of the cities with stifling humidity, the Wurmberg offers the perfect conditions for outdoor activities: hiking, biking, or simply relaxing in the sun.

With an average annual temperature of 3.9° Celsius, the climate on the Wurmberg is comparable to that of a 1,600-meter-high mountain in the Alps. While the tree line in the Harz Mountains at the Brocken is around 1,100 meters, it ranges from 1,800 to over 2,000 meters in the Alps.

So, it’s always a good idea to bring a jacket when heading up the Wurmberg.
